One does not naturally put the ideas of practical medicine and bodily health in direct contact with business entrepreneurship. However, this is an attitude that surely must be re-examined in light of the raft of health-based businesses that have shown us how the two can merge to tremendous benefit. Dr Rosemarie Jabbour is a shining example of exactly that. After suffering with migraines for large parts of her life, she took the lessons she had learned while working in medical research and used them to establish her own chiropractic clinic, New World Chiro, garnering a reputation along the way for her positive effects on her patients’ bodily health while building a sustainable and successful brand along the way.
What is important to remember, however, is that to describe her as simply a chiropractor would be a gross understatement of her achievements. She has based her practice on her belief that chiropractic does not only help physical pain but also help with pains such as headaches and migraines by easing bodily stress, and is motivated by a desire to help people who have suffered in similar ways to her.
“Being a migraine sufferer for many years, Chiropractic was the only thing that cured me. Seeing other people suffering from health issues and pain around me made me more focused on becoming a health practitioner who offers overall natural health alternatives to the community,” she says.
“I was an aerobics instructor and was surrounded by healthy, happy and fit people who were focused on their health and fitness. That was inspirational, and was within my own value systems.”
From being headhunted in her final year of university to working with athletes at the Sydney 200 Olympics to the success she now currently enjoys with New World Chiro, Rosemarie’s path to her current position has been a long evolution. She has found that a large part of the success of that evolution has been her commitment to employing the right people and making sure everyone she works with buys into her vision.
“The biggest challenge was finding the appropriate staff who were loyal, honest and trustworthy. When you’re starting a business, don’t let anyone get in the way of your dreams and surround yourself with like mind people,” she says. “Surround yourself with like minded people who can inspire you and lift you to the next level. They can advise you in order to avoid unnecessary mistakes. It will save you time, money and sleepless nights.”
Rosemarie has certainly enjoyed her fair share of success, as she has steadily worked her way into a position of being a genuine household name of the health industry. Having won the 2004 Western Sydney Young Chiropractor of the Year earlier in her career and also having been given a Most Outstanding Service award by the World Chiropractic Alliance, she has clearly made a great impression amongst her peers, but it is the satisfaction she gets from satisfied patients that is more rewarding for her.
“I love the rewards of seeing peoples lives change for the better, and helping them live a fulfilling life, without pain and suffering,” she says. “I have met amazing people and have networked with outstanding entrepreneurs. The reputation i have has allowed me to become an expert in my field, and respected for that.”
As is her way, Rosemarie is always looking towards the future, and has a clear idea on where she would like New World Chiro to go next. She bases her vision for the future on the desire for greater exposure and success, as well as being able to present both herself and her company as leaders in her industry.
“We would like to associate ourselves with Corporations and be the Chiropractors of choice for the employees, management and staff of these corporations and businesses as well as aligning ourselves with health teams as the health professionals of choice and franchising our business,” she says. “I would also like to grow the public education and speaking arena, and expose professionals and company directors and management to the workshops and seminars we provide.”
Dr Rosemarie Jabbour has made herself an icon by pursuing the goal of making people’s lives better, and there cannot be many more honourable pursuits than that. Her dedication to chiropractic and her business acumen have allowed her to build a successful business that does good for everyone, and surely her dream will only continue to grow from here as she chases her next goal of franchising New World Chiro and expanding her sphere of influence even further.
